Sidewalks, Walkways & Flatwork
Safe, level, and good-looking concrete paths built to handle foot traffic and weather in North Augusta, SC.

Connect Your Property with Clean, Durable Concrete Paths
Sidewalks and walkways do more than just connect point A to point B. They keep people safe, guide visitors to your front door, and add curb appeal that makes your entire property look more polished. A cracked, uneven walkway sends the wrong message and creates a real trip hazard. A smooth, well-built one shows that you take care of your home.
At Advanced North Augusta Concrete, we install sidewalks, walkways, and general flatwork for homes and businesses across North Augusta and the surrounding CSRA area. Flatwork is the term for any horizontal concrete surface like a sidewalk, patio pad, utility pad, or shed floor. If it is flat and made of concrete, we build it.
Our crew handles every step of the process. We lay out the path, excavate and grade the soil, set forms, pour the concrete, and finish it with a broom texture for solid traction even when wet. We cut control joints at the right spacing so the concrete does not crack randomly as it ages. The result is a surface that looks clean and stays level for decades.
Whether you need a simple front walkway, a winding garden path, or a commercial sidewalk that meets ADA guidelines, we have you covered. Call us at (803) 991-5033 for a free estimate.
Types of Flatwork and Walkway Projects We Do
Flatwork covers a wide range of concrete projects. Here are some of the most common jobs we take on for homeowners and businesses:
- Front walkways from the driveway or street to your front door. We make sure the grade is right so water drains off the surface and away from your home.
- Garden and backyard paths that connect your patio, shed, garden, or other outdoor areas with clean, defined walking surfaces.
- ADA-compliant sidewalks for commercial properties, churches, and public spaces that meet accessibility requirements including proper width, slope, and ramp transitions.
- Utility pads and equipment slabs for HVAC units, generators, trash enclosures, and other equipment that needs a solid, level base.
- Concrete aprons and transitions between your driveway and the street or between different surfaces on your property.
If you want your new walkway to match or connect to an existing patio, we also offer concrete patio installation so you can coordinate both projects for a seamless result.
Built Right for North Augusta Conditions
Our area gets plenty of rain, summer heat, and occasional freezes in the winter. All of that affects concrete surfaces, especially thinner ones like walkways that sit closer to the soil. If the base under a sidewalk is not properly compacted, or if drainage is poor, you end up with settling, cracking, and standing water within a few years.
We prevent these problems by doing the base work right. Every walkway we pour sits on a compacted gravel bed that promotes drainage and resists settling. We use four-inch-thick concrete as a minimum for foot traffic areas and go thicker for paths that might see vehicles or heavy equipment crossing them. Control joints are placed every four to five feet to manage natural expansion and contraction.
For properties with existing sidewalks that have settled or cracked, we can either repair the damaged sections or remove and replace them entirely. We also offer concrete leveling for slabs that have sunk but are otherwise in good condition. Leveling is a faster, more affordable fix that lifts the slab back into place without tearing it out.

Common Questions About Sidewalks and Flatwork
How wide should a residential sidewalk be?
Most residential sidewalks are three to four feet wide, which comfortably fits one person walking. If you want two people to walk side by side, a five-foot-wide walkway is ideal. For commercial properties, ADA guidelines require a minimum width of five feet with proper slope and ramp access. We will help you determine the right width based on your property layout and how the walkway will be used.
How thick does a concrete walkway need to be?
For standard foot traffic, four inches of concrete on a compacted gravel base is the industry standard and what we recommend. If vehicles will cross the walkway, like a path that crosses a driveway, we increase the thickness to five or six inches with additional reinforcement. The gravel base beneath is typically four inches thick and is compacted in layers to provide a stable foundation that prevents settling.
Can you add decorative elements to a sidewalk?
Absolutely. We can add color, stamped borders, exposed aggregate sections, or a combination of finishes to give your walkway a custom look. A popular option is a standard broom-finished walkway with a stamped border in a contrasting color. This adds visual interest without a big cost increase. We can also do full stamped walkways that match an existing patio or driveway. Let us know what look you are going for and we will help you design something that fits your style.
